What is Schools Plus?
  • University student volunteers deliver weekly tutoring sessions to pupils at local schools.
  • The overall goal is to raise the academic confidence, interest and attainment of the pupils.
  • Last year, 100% of teachers said that their pupils’ interest, confidence and attainment in the subject improved.
  • And 97% of student tutors said volunteering with Schools Plus enhanced their university experience.
Becoming a tutor
  • Tutor in groups once a week in a school
  • Choose your own project based on your subject preference and availability
  • We guide you through what it means to be a tutor, a DBS check and training for working with children safely.
  • All DBS and travel costs are paid for by us - volunteering should never cost a thing.
  • Apply here
We have projects both guiding the children's reading and helping their learning in a specific subject area - so you choose which you would prefer in the selection menu when you apply above!
